Merging with burbot

Yeah, a bizarre merge suggestion. It might be worth a dab link to burbot at the top of the page here, after confirming that fishbase or somebody else documents "eelpout" as a name known to be used for burbots. Stan 17:54, 13 November 2006 (UTC)

Third opposition to a merge. Just checking http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Whatlinkshere/Eelpout makes it quite clear merging is the last thing that should be done to this fish name. Eelpout/burbout section removal & commentary

As per the above discussion, and opening 'disambiguation' terminology sentence of the article, a special purpose, one article editor added an entire section about "eelpouts" angling, actually about burbots. The section was without references, and for good measure, included an external link. It's been eliminated, and I'm not going to bother leaving a message at the editor's User Page. Deleted distribution section

old distribution section was for just one species and had contradictory information, deleted the wrong information and moved the distribution to the lead as there really isn't a lot to say about it 66.212.64.182 (talk) 20:24, 31 August 2022 (UTC)

Likely AI generated material

Hi - I added the AI generated tag in regard to the 2024 student edits above, as they display many indicators of LLM use and require review for sourcing, accuracy, tone, etc. Gnomingstuff (talk) 16:32, 16 September 2025 (UTC)

I just removed those sections- if somebody else wants to take the sources and try to salvage them into content usable for the article, they can do so, but that's a lot of work. For the time being, I'd rather just remove the AI generated content, given that it's hard to read in its use of academic jargon, while not making a concise point.
