NFL Experience section is lacking important details which Ed revealed on the Rich Eisen Show

edit

Appearing on the Rich Eisen Show, Mr. O'Neil goes into detail about his experience with the Steelers. When asked what position he was playing during Steelers training camp, Ed replied "Outside linebacker on the weak side. No, on the strong side I was playing over the tight-end." Thus, Mr. O'Neil was not directly competing with Joe Greene and L. C. Greenwood as the article currently implies. During that same interview, Ed indicates that he primarily played on the defensive line however, due to his size of 6'1" 225-240lbs and speed, he was essentially a "plug and play" guy in college, having played a variety of positions. In the NFL however, the only position appropriate to his size was OLB and as a result, he was trying out for the team while learning a new position. He indicates that he was at camp for 2-weeks before being called in the office of Chuck Knoll where he was informed of the decision. According to O'Neil, Coach Knoll said to him "Look, you don't know the position, this is my first year to, I need to start showing something right away..." Coach Knoll offered to call the Philadelphia Eagles as Ed recalls Coach stating "I can make you a call, you could go down the road, the eagles are hurting". Ed declined Coach Knoll's offer, he was having some knee problems and was "sick of playing football" having already played for two different universities, he wanted to try something new. As we all know, the rest is history.

If someone would be so kind as to verify and revise the page, that would be great. Please prioritize the following correction noted under his Professional Football section where it states:'

"...but was cut in training camp, having to compete with fellow rookie defensive linemen Joe Greene and L.C. Greenwood for a roster spot."

As written, readers may misinterpret this as meaning that he was directly competing with the two future Pro Bowl defensive linemen for a roster spot on the D-line. This is not accurate. For clarity, please consider including the fact that he was trying out for an OLB position on the strong-side which was a new position for him and was released due to his lack of experience at the position.
