Article expansion and sourcing
editI have expanded this article to improve coverage, sourcing, and overall quality in line with Good Article (GA) criteria.
Changes include:
- Expanding the history section using reliable secondary sources, including Los Angeles Times, Hot Rod, Hemmings Motor News, and OC Weekly, to better document the event’s origins and development.
- Clarifying the event’s start date by reflecting minor variations in published accounts (mid-1980s) rather than asserting a single definitive year.
- Adding a structured section on format and location to describe how the meet operates, based on independent reporting.
- Expanding the reception and influence section to document Donut Derelicts’ role in Southern California car culture and its influence on later informal car gatherings, including Cars & Coffee–style events, with attribution to reliable sources.
- Qualifying claims about longevity (e.g., “longest-running”) by attributing them to published sources rather than stating them as established fact in Wikipedia’s voice.
- Adding an infobox image and caption from Wikimedia Commons to improve visual context.
The article has been copy-edited to reduce redundancy and maintain a neutral, encyclopedic tone. Further improvements or suggestions are welcome. Guywelch2000 (talk) 21:43, 1 January 2026 (UTC)
