Amateur fight held after he went pro?

edit

How is it possible that his Lupe Hudgens fight is at amateur when he clearly has pro fights before that time?Greg440 (talk) 17:55, 11 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

Which image should be used?

edit

There's a dispute as to which image to use in the infobox, so I'll ask here to settle it. Which image should be used in the infobox? The top one is from 2009, and the bottom one is from 2016. I think the bottom one should be used. TBMNY (talk) 17:54, 16 December 2017 (UTC)Reply

The top one should be used, it's much better. X2o (talk) 22:37, 16 December 2017 (UTC)Reply

Demetrious Johnson (fighter)Demetrious Johnson – Clear as day the fighter is more notable than the American football player and has more of a significance in their sport worldwide. The pageviews are not even close even with 6.1 mil for the fighter and only 11,716 for the footballer . The american football player article even has no sources, which is a sign of being not as notable as someone who is frequently referenced as one of the greatest in his sport. Joe Rogan reference?

edit

The article says that UFC commentator Joe Rogan considers Demetrious Johnson the best pound for pound fighter of all time. The article for Anderson Silva also says Rogan considers him the best pound for pound of all time. This presents a problem. Idk what his current opinion is, but we need to clarify it, or remove both claims. 2601:18F:4101:4830:B089:A1C1:7C8B:5E8B (talk) 07:23, 13 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

Semi-protected edit request on 7 April 2021

edit

Demetrious Johnson's submission on Ray Borg is listed as a "flying armbar" on Borg's page but just as an "armbar" on this page. It was a truly special submission, I think "flying armbar" is the right call. But one article should be changed I think. 98.37.137.2 (talk) 23:22, 7 April 2021 (UTC)Reply

Not done for now: please establish a consensus for this alteration before using the {{edit semi-protected}} template. The articles don't have to match. I think you should try and get support for changing it in this article before requesting the change. Thanks. ScottishFinnishRadish (talk) 13:25, 14 April 2021 (UTC)Reply

I would agree with flying armbar. It was a spectacular Submission for the finish. FraggernautOG (talk) 05:48, 27 August 2022 (UTC)Reply

Orphaned references in Demetrious Johnson

edit

I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of Demetrious Johnson's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

Reference named "ufcstats":

I apologize if any of the above are effectively identical; I am just a simple computer program, so I can't determine whether minor differences are significant or not. Feel free to remove this comment after fixing the refs. AnomieBOT 04:47, 3 May 2023 (UTC)Reply

Special rules fight

edit

Isn't special rules fight MMA fight? Mixed ruled in both. Akaan327 (talk) 18:03, 3 July 2025 (UTC)Reply

See the following from his career section: "The fight was contested under special rules, with rounds 1 and 3 being fought under the ONE Muay Thai ruleset, and rounds 2 and 4 being fought under the ONE MMA ruleset." Sherdog does not list this fight on his professional MMA record. Neither does Tapology, which is why you see the record box of this fight separated from his MMA record here. Actual weight

edit

The page says he weighs 135, but on JRE he claimed he weighs around 145 naturally. I attempted to change this but it was reversed so.. 2600:1014:B079:CD08:C9D:E36F:EB95:6FD8 (talk) 21:58, 3 July 2025 (UTC)Reply

You’ve added no reliable source to confirm this. Also, it should probably come from a reliable secondary source instead of a primary source. Best to just keep it at his fight weight as that is very common on other retired MMA fighters pages. See Daniel Cormier, Jon Jones, Georges St-Pierre, Don Frye, Fedor Emelianenko, etc. GOAT Bones231012 (talk) 22:24, 3 July 2025 (UTC)Reply
