Later career and public commentary

After retiring from screen acting, Sutcliffe trained as a somatic therapist and Core Energetics practitioner and established a private practice in Austin, Texas.[1] He has hosted the podcast The Psychosphere, often in conversation with actress Angela Ai, in which they discuss psychotherapy, gender and relationships.[2]

Sutcliffe also produces long-form interviews on his YouTube channel and other platforms. In 2020 and 2022 he released two extended conversations with British–American social media personality Andrew Tate under the title Andrew Tate vs Therapist, in which they discussed Tate's views on masculinity, competition and emotion.[3][4] A 2024 profile in the Align Podcast described the Tate interview as one of Sutcliffe's best-known recent projects.[5]

In December 2023 Sutcliffe attracted criticism after saying on The Psychosphere that "women shouldn't vote" during a discussion of masculinity and femininity with Ai.[6] Coverage in outlets such as Australian women's media site Mamamia characterised the remarks as misogynistic and reported backlash from fans of Gilmore Girls.[7]

Sutcliffe has also drawn attention for his comments about the January 6 United States Capitol attack. Amid online rumours that he had been present at the Capitol, he tweeted that there were "rumors circulating that I 'stormed the capital [sic]'", adding that this was "not true – though I would have been proud to share a smoke with this great Patriot", alongside a video of a rioter apparently smoking inside the building.[8][9] The tweet prompted criticism from some viewers and commentators; Sutcliffe later responded to a social media user who suggested he had been joking by saying "I feel seen", and told other outlets that he had been "kidding".[10] David pappas smith (talk) 16:37, 15 November 2025 (UTC)Reply
