Suggested update to Dalton Philips biography, reflecting his current tenure at Greencore Group plc.

edit

Hello, my name is Michael Evans and I work at Greencore Group plc. I’d like to suggest a few updates to the Dalton Philips Wikipedia article that I believe would improve clarity and accuracy. As I have a professional connection to the company, I want to be fully transparent and avoid making any direct edits myself.

May I suggest two additional edits to Dalton Philips wikipedia page, under the 'Greencore' heading:
"Under Dalton's leadership, Greencore completed the acquisition of Bakkavor Group, creating a a UK national convenience food champion. Following this transaction, Greencore was awarded 'Deal of the Year' at the Irish Times Business Awards in February 2026."

As I have a professional connection to the company, I want to be fully transparent and avoid making any direct edits myself. Instead, I’m submitting this request here on the Talk page in the hope that a neutral editor can review it and consider implementing the changes if appropriate. I’ve outlined the suggested edits below, with brief explanations where relevant. I’d be grateful for any feedback. Many thanks

Given Dalton has now been in role as CEO for Greencore Group plc for three years, it would be appropriate to add a section on his tenure to date under a standalone "Greencore" heading (to sit between "Tenure at DAA" and "Personal life").

Please find the proposed text below with sources. The most recent piece in The Times from July is on Factiva but not on the website - hence we have provided a screenshot / text version.

As an aside, the current Wiki text switches between referring to Dalton as "Dalton" and "Philips" - so might I suggest this is standardised on one or the other.

Greencore

In September 2022, Philips joined Greencore as CEO, describing the convenience food producer at the time of his arrival as "a bit battered and bruised" following the effects of Brexit, pandemic lockdowns, post-Covid supply chain constraints and the cost-of-living crisis (source: The Sunday Times, Irish edition, 5 January 2023). His turnaround plan was based on a three-phase recovery strategy, which included shedding unprofitable contracts, reducing headcount, exiting non-core businesses and returning Greencore's profits to pre-Covid levels. At its full year results in December 2024, Greencore reported a near-28 per cent rise in operating profits to £97.5m for the 12 months to 30 September 2024, just below pre-Covid levels, and announced a return to paying dividends (source: Greencore FY24 results). In July 2025, Greencore raised its profit guidance for the 12 months to 30 September 2025 for the third time in four months following an acceleration in sales (source: The Times, 23 July 2025).

In December 2025, Dalton was announced Business Person of the Year at the Business & Finance Awards.

Under Dalton's leadership the Greencore acquisition of Bakkavor completed on 16 January 2026.

The Times, Sandwich maker gets bigger slice by Jessica Newman

Britain's largest sandwich maker has raised its profit guidance for the third time in four months after sales accelerated in the third quarter.

Greencore, which supplies sandwiches, ready meals, soups and sauces to large supermarkets, discounters and coffee shops, reported a 9.9 per cent increase in revenues to £511.1 million in the three months to June 27, meaning sales have risen 7.6 per cent in the first nine months of this financial year.

The FTSE 250 company said it benefited from winning new business, and that the sunny weather had boosted sales of food on the go.

As a result, Greencore, which is buying its rival Bakkavor in a £1.2 billion deal, now expects to deliver adjusted operating profits between the range of £118 million and £121 million, above the £114 million to £117 million previously anticipated.

The profit upgrade sent Greencore's shares up 29p, or 12 per cent, to close at 270p, while Bakkavor's shares closed up 19p, or 8.6 per cent, at 241p.

Dalton Philips, chief executive of Greencore, said: "As we enter our seasonably important fourth quarter, our focus remains on maintaining momentum in our business."

The group said it added 168 new products during the summer but it warned of uncertainties in the broader macroeconomic environment.

"The business is continuing to deliver upgrades despite cost headwinds, and we are taking an increasingly favourable view of the Bakkavor combination," Andrew Wade, an analyst at Jefferies, said.

The update paints a much brighter picture than at Greggs, which warned this month that profits would be lower than expected after the heatwave dampened demand for its hot pastries and sausage rolls.

Greencore, which was formed in 1991 after the privatisation of Irish Sugar, is listed in London but has its headquarters in Dublin. It has 14 factories in the UK and employs 13,300 staff.

The request is generally reasonable, but the sources need work. Please provide The Times sources as complete inline references with working URLs. The material sourced to Greencore ("His turnaround plan ...paying dividends (source: Greencore FY24 results).") is rather detailed and also not really independently sourced. I'd suggest cutting it, or finding an independent source that covers related material. Similarly for the acquisition sentence - it's a press release from Greencore and not really about Dalton so much as what the company did.
For the award, you could use KPMG as a independent source:

In December 2025, Dalton Philips was named Business Person of the Year at the Business & Finance Awards.[1]

Thank you for looking at this for me. We have an issue with the Times reference as it was a print article and is not available online. Can we strip the piece back to simple state that Dalton became CEO of Greencore on 26 September 2022 - with the reference here: https://otp.tools.investis.com/clients/uk/greencore_group_plc2/rns/regulatory-story.aspx?cid=1175&newsid=1583274&culture=en-GB
