Name: Dike / Dyke
editUntil I saw this article today I've only ever seen the reservoir called the Dale Dyke Dam, as it's refered to on the Sheffield Flood page.
Did the spelling change from 'dyke' to 'dike' at some point or were the brook and dam always 'Dale Dike', around Bradfield, the 'dyke' spelling being an error that gained common currency in Sheffield after the flood? ~2026-27146-09 (talk) 21:58, 25 May 2026 (UTC)
- 2026-27146-09 See here a map from 1903, showing it as Dike, also, most of the cites on the article page have Dike in their citations. The joy of all things (talk) 23:32, 25 May 2026 (UTC)
