Name of Station

edit

Why is it called Dakota station? Troy88 05:50, 6 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

It is near to the roads Dakota Crescent and Dakota Close. Dakota is the name of a plane that nearly crashed at Kallang Airport which used to be located in this area. Sengkang 05:55, 6 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

Fair use rationale for Image:NS logo.jpg

edit

Image:NS logo.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Saw this on reward board and said, why the heck not? I'll get started as soon as I can. No quick fail, so full review incoming.

So sorry, I forgot about an unavoidable week long out of pocket trip that I was going on. Hence, no updates and no edits. I will have it finished by the end of the day, again so sorry. 𝓕𝓵𝓸𝓫𝓵𝓲𝓷 (Talk to me! · My contribs) 13:10, 3 April 2026 (UTC)Reply

List

edit

GA review – see WP:WIAGA for criteria

  1. Is it well written?
    A. The prose is clear and concise, and the spelling and grammar are correct: I made a minor edit because the art piece name without anything before it felt slightly jarring to me. But more importantly, one minor detail. It says the opening date was delayed to 2009. What was it delayed from?If there was no original date set, let me know and I can change it to "set as" as opposed to "delayed to". I'm just mildly confused here. Nevermind, I'll just change it to "set as" because that is true either way. Finishing this up today.
    B. It complies with the manual of style guidelines for lead sections, layout, words to watch, fiction, and list incorporation: I swapped the order of the English and date tags per MOS:LEAD, although I'm not sure it actually has to be in that order. Otherwise, layout is good, no words to watch.
  2. Is it verifiable with no original research, as shown by a source spot-check?
    A. It contains a list of all references (sources of information), presented in accordance with the layout style guideline: Good, bibliography and reg. citations are order correctly.
    B. Reliable sources are cited inline. All content that could reasonably be challenged, except for plot summaries and that which summarizes cited content elsewhere in the article, must be cited no later than the end of the paragraph (or line if the content is not in prose): All content that could reasonably be challenged is cited, along with almost all content overall.
    C. It contains no original research: As proven by below spot check.
    D. It contains no copyright violations nor plagiarism: No Copyvio according to Earwig's detector.
  3. Is it broad in its coverage?
    A. It addresses the main aspects of the topic: Addresses all the main aspects of the station, including construction, running, and the art piece located there.
    B. It stays focused on the topic without going into unnecessary detail (see summary style): Article size is reasonable, detail on Little Things, Little Stories is reasonable.
  4. Is it neutral?
It represents viewpoints fairly and without editorial bias, giving due weight to each: Fairly uncontroversial article, I'm not sure anything in this article even has alternate viewpoints, but good nonetheless.
  5. Is it stable?
It does not change significantly from day to day because of an ongoing edit war or content dispute: Fully stable. No one outside of the nominator and the reviewer has edited in a month.
  6. Is it illustrated, if possible, by images?
    A. Images are tagged with their copyright status, and valid non-free use rationales are provided for non-free content: Photos are free, the copyrighted art in the infobox photo falls under de minimis.
    B. Images are relevant to the topic, and have suitable captions: Photos are of the station, captions are relevant and good.

General: Article is new enough and long enough
Policy: Article is sourced, neutral, and free of copyright problems

Hook eligibility:

QPQ: Done.

Overall: I do not have access to the book, can you quote it? The article says photographers but the hook says artists. Also, the image in the history section is kind of MOS:SANDWICH, could be moved under the infobox. Finnfrog99 (talk) 17:21, 10 April 2026 (UTC)Reply

@Finnfrog99: the relevant quotes are "The final work displayed in the station is made up of two 1.5-by-11.4 metre digital prints containing some 70 objects in total. The smallest is a unit number sign from a public housing flat, while the largest is a lift door. In between, there is a tricycle, dustbins, lamps, a television set, wooden clogs and also Miss Ang's kueh moulds and her fridge door adorned with magnets" (ALT0. Note that the objects being near the staton are mentioned earlier in the book, which says "Lining both sides of the walls between the concourse and the platform of Dakota station are photos of objects belonging to the area and its residents, which collectively form the artwork of photographers Ang Song Nian and Zhao Renhui") and "Lugging cameras and loitering around the public housing estates, the duo were often mistaken as government officers on inspection rounds." (ALT1. This was talking about the creation of the artwork).
I have also moved the image to be under the infobox. Regarding the artists, the book also says that they are the artists of the artwork, so I've accordingly added that into the article. Thanks for the review! Icepinner (Come to Hakurei Shrine!) 17:21, 11 April 2026 (UTC)Reply
