Creeper (fictional creature)Creeper (Minecraft) – Both shorter and more precise - distinguishes from other "fictional creatures" such as, for example, the Creeper from Jeepers Creepers. Ionmars10 (talk) 19:31, 11 September 2020 (UTC)Reply

Creeper, Aw Man / "Creeper Challenge"

edit

Noting this if an editor wants to take a stab, might be cool and worth adding some kind of cultural/internet memes part about the popular meme "Creeper, Aw Man" originating from CaptainSparklez's "Revenge":

Some possible sources, though these are marginally reliable and not the best: TLAtlak 13:13, 19 March 2024 (UTC)Reply

Behavior section

edit

Shouldn’t we have a behavior section of the creeper? WikiGrower1 (talk) 15:01, 16 November 2025 (UTC)Reply

No. The way that the creeper behaves is already explained in the article. λ NegativeMP1 15:34, 16 November 2025 (UTC)Reply
What about the fact that they don’t approach the player until it is sixteen blocks away and start exploding when 3 blocks away? That’s what I am talking about? WikiGrower1 (talk) 17:02, 16 November 2025 (UTC)Reply
Their behavior is already in the article. Ringtail Raider (talk) 19:07, 16 November 2025 (UTC)Reply
I don’t see it, it just says they explode within blast radius. Doesn’t say the range WikiGrower1 (talk) 13:33, 17 November 2025 (UTC)Reply
I don't see why it's necessary to specify the range of which it can explode. Or a separate drops section like what you just tried to add. WP:GAMECRUFT. λ NegativeMP1 16:19, 17 November 2025 (UTC)Reply
A creeper is nearly silent until it comes near the player, at which point it emits a hiss and explodes after a short delay. The explosion destroys the creeper, can kill or injure the player, and also destroys surrounding blocks. If you want more specific game values you should check out Minecraft Wiki (which is actually already linked at the bottom of the article). Ringtail Raider (talk) 20:47, 17 November 2025 (UTC)Reply

Possible NFCC violation?

edit

We're using a non-free image of a Creeper when Xbox México has published File:Minecraft Creeper (Crop).png under CC-BY (has been discussed and upheld on Commons) which is not an awful depiction and is actually used in the main Minecraft article. Surely that means it violates WP:NFCC? FunIsOptional (talk) (please use ping!) 11:09, 19 January 2026 (UTC)Reply

I think the creeper is copyrighted to Mojang if I'm not mistaken. If I'm right, then this would be a valid NFUR for the article subject. Gommeh 📖   🎮 19:23, 19 January 2026 (UTC)Reply
@FunIsOptional: There's been some voiced concerns on Commons that such images are not actually copyright free, as the main source of the videos are still under a standard copyright license. Relying on a region-specific upload to 'skirt' the issue feels like a bomb waiting to happen, especially as the main image of an article's infobox.--Kung Fu Man (talk) 00:03, 20 January 2026 (UTC)Reply
