"Went primetime"?

edit

The article previously said, "When the show went primetime in 1991, and consisted of two episodes in the 8 p.m. hour, it was called Primetime Cops in promos for several years. The program was one of only two remaining first-run prime-time programs airing on Saturday nights on the four major U.S. broadcast television networks (along with CBS's 48 Hours Mystery)." The first sentence doesn't make sense because Cops debuted in primetime. It started airing at 9 PM (Eastern) with its very first episode in 1989. In fact, at that time, Fox was only programming prime time (and only on certain days) since it no longer had any late night programming and didn't have daytime programming either.

As to the second sentence, it's true that eventually the major networks stopped airing original programming on Saturday night, but that wasn't the case when Cops debuted, when shows like The Golden Girls and Empty Nest were being broadcast on Saturday night. The second sentence needs to be clarified as to when Cops became one of only two first-run shows on the networks on Saturday night. -- Metropolitan90 (talk) 22:15, 8 November 2025 (UTC)Reply
