doms2cents as a reliable source

edit

I provided a source from doms2cents that she died due to natural causes, but it kept getting reverted because it's not reliable, although they have proven to be reliable.

Although the mission of the page you linked seems noble on its face, its application in practice is not always upheld. In the article about Cavanaugh's death on this website, the author references her obituary from the Los Angeles Times, which allegedly claims that Cavanaugh "had been dealing with chronic myelogenous leukemia (CML)". No word or phrase that is a part of "chronic myelogenous leukemia" appears in the obituary's text, nor do any similar terms (i.e. "cancer"). Furthermore, no reference to this condition appears in the earliest archived version of that page. — Paper Luigi TC 07:14, 24 August 2025 (UTC)Reply
My apologies, I wasn't aware that it was referencing her obituary from the Los Angeles Times which stated that Cavanaugh had been dealing with chronic myelogenous leukemia (CML), yet it had no mention of her cause of death on the obituary's text. 82.11.134.113 (talk) 20:20, 24 August 2025 (UTC)Reply

USA Today Leukemia claim

edit

I know it's not a reliable source since for some reason they cite Wikipedia as a source, but I'm wondering if we should report on how papers are so confused about what happened they're actually creating citeogenesis problems by citing uncited stuff on this article to pad out their coverage?

30 Dec 2014 https://www.usatoday.com/story/life/people/2014/12/30/babe-actress-christine-cavanaugh-dies-at-age-51/21060745/ Ann Oldenburg wrote "According to Wikipedia, the voice actress had suffered from CML or chronic myelogenous leukemia." though that's subsequently been removed I think. Is it worth mentioning in an encyclopedic context? If we could find more sources that cite 2014 Wikipedia's unverified claim of the cause of death, it may warrant inclusion, but I'm hesitant to do that. — Paper Luigi TC 08:15, 17 January 2026 (UTC)Reply
