Black Cyclone Nickname

edit

“The Black Cyclone” was a nickname imposed by those who opposed Charles’s inclusion but saw monetary gain in his talent, a rebranding of a deeply offensive term for PR purposes. Charles and his family aware of this, never embraced it. Today, like-minded individuals continue to exploit “The Black Cyclone” for profit, regardless of Charles’s or the family’s values. Any modern use—on apparel, merchandise, or media—does not reflect his legacy nor is inline with the Charles Follis Foundation. See Chapter 11 in the book: ‘FOLLIS GREATNESS TRANSCENDS’ to understand why. ~2025-35541-78 (talk) 13:12, 22 November 2025 (UTC)Reply

I am from Wooster and regardless of how it was meant he was not referred to as “Charles the speedy”. Historically, and even today on memorials and in dedications he is referred to as the “black cyclone”. I was very confused why Wikipedia is the only source I have found to not list the black cyclone as a nickname. ~2026-22046-00 (talk) 18:28, 10 April 2026 (UTC)Reply
