Forgot to clarify on the edit summary, my edit was to clarify the statement as Borneo, Indonesia to me is a bit misleading as it suggests that Borneo is exclusively an Indonesia island Nil Einne 18:36, 11 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

Anything new on this guy? It would be good to know if it is indeed a new species, or simply a sighting of a known one. - UtherSRG (talk) 12:30, 10 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

I don't think it's a cryptid creature. Maybe it's a badger or ferret like creature. In Indonesia, I guess we called it luwak Ario_ManUtd 19:29, 31 March 2008 (UTC) --Ario ManUtd (talk) 12:27, 31 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

A luwak (Paradoxurus hermaphroditus) is another species. In fact, there has been an article arguing that it is in fact some kind of flying squirrel, probably (if I'm not mistaken) Aeromys thomasi. Ucucha 14:50, 31 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

The description leads me to believe this is a Borneo Bay Cat, once thought extinct but photographed as recently as 2003. (WWF)66.176.247.32 (talk) 19:16, 19 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

Article title and possible merge with Aeromys thomasi

edit

I think "Cat-fox" is a poor name for this article, as it seems to have lead to confusion of the Bornean animal with the Corsican wildcat (someone turned this article into a redirect to the wildcat, which I just reversed). However, I'm not sure this article should be kept, given this mystery animal is almost certainly a Thomas's flying squirrel. However, if the article is not deleted, I suggest to rename it as "Bornean red carnivore". This appears to be the term used by the WWF, whose cameras captured it in the first place. Hi @Boylarva99: if you didn't already see, I have nominated this article for deletion. I actually think @Sumanuil's redirect to the Corsican wildcat article makes a lot of sense, but I would appreciate you sharing your thoughts at the deletion discussion given the issues you've raised here.
