One possibility of origin of term Bulgar, is that the name tribe is apparented with turkish "Bulucu" --> "Explorator, discoverer". "Bulgar" could be apparented also with Celtic Tribe names "Volques/Volcae" or with the Irish mythic tribe "Firm Bolg" with the same meaning. ~2025-40700-61 (talk) 21:48, 14 December 2025 (UTC)Reply

"Името "българин" произлиза от думите "благ" и "градинар"."
"The name "Bulgarian" derives from the words "good" /gentle/gracious/kindly and "gardener"."

Rewriting the Politics section for reader understanding

edit

Hello, I saw on the events section of the homepage that the election of the Bulgarian president lead to the end of their political crisis. I wanted to learn more and clicked on the related article for the crisis, to which I soon became confused about how the Bulgarian government worked. Clicking on the Bulgaria article and looking under the political section, I felt that as a casual reader it is hard to read and not very clearly laid out.

The explanation of their government branches and the play-by-play of the crisis in this section was laid out confusingly, jumping around and expounding on little details while leaving out explanations for core ideas that made it hard to understand. I understand the goal is to be apolitical, but such succinct explanations, like the reason the last president withdrew, make it hard to get an accurate idea of the crisis when other details are bloated.

Honestly, I’m wondering that if there is an article already for this crisis, could this not be watered down and expounded on in the crisis article, as that one is also a bit confusing bc of all the sections, (why did they not do something similar to this article and have at least a semi detailed timeline with all the main info before having the sections to learn more details?? I dont want to have to click on and seive each one just to learn the main ideas/reasonings.) And honesty the current header for that article could just replace this whole bit for this one), so more room could be made for a better explanation of Bulgaria’s government?

Idk, just seems like it should either be cut down a bit or given the words it needs to be understood. As it is right now, theres a lot of words but not enough of meaning.

sorry if this isn’t how you ask stuff, just thought it would start a discussion to improve the article from a reader’s pov. ~2026-26655-11 (talk) 01:29, 2 May 2026 (UTC)Reply

In section "Politics" change the photo of the prime minister and the name of the prime minister under the photo - the current photo is of Andrey Gyurov, the former prime minister. The current prime minister of Bulgaria is Rumen Radev. ~2026-29668-71 (talk) 15:02, 17 May 2026 (UTC)Reply

Not done: please provide reliable sources that support the change you want made. Also, please specify what new photo should be used. Day Creature (talk) 22:09, 17 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
The editor was not obliged to provide sources, since it is already sourced in that section. Although, they should have specified the photograph. I've updated it accordingly. If anyone has an issue with the photograph, they can use another one. StephenMacky1 (talk) 00:17, 18 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
