Changing the title photo

edit

I think that we should change the title photo to a more recent variant of the 737, like either a MAX or an NG. I say this so people can get an idea of something like the one they flew on to see their grandma in Miami, not the one their grandma flew on to get to Miami. 2.6 Hog Cycle (talk) 15:42, 7 November 2025 (UTC)Reply

The reason it's a -200 is that more recent 737 variants all have their own articles, but this is the only article covering the original 737. 4300streetcar (talk) 17:07, 7 November 2025 (UTC)Reply

discrepancy

edit

In the eleventh paragraph of the article Boeing 737, it is stated that 21 Boeing 737-100 were built for Lufthansa. In the fifteenth paragraph of the Article Boeing 737, it states that 22 Boeing 737-100s were built for Lufthansa. The correct number should be 21 or 22. Both cannot be correct. Further withing the article, it is discussed that the first 737-100 was sold to NASA. Perhaps this airplane was sold as one of Lufthansa's order and hence, may explain the discrepancy between 21 and 22. Then Lufthansa would return the airplane to Boeing where it would subsequently be sold and reordered by NASA, thus being a testbed for Boeing, Sold to Lufthansa and then required by Boeing for subsequent resale to NASA. These are not factual. They are possible explanations which may shed some light on why there was a discrepancy. They warrant further investigation in order to make corrections to the article. It is important to me to know whether Lufthansa ordered 21 or 22 Boeing 737-100s. Snailsnjax (talk) 20:41, 26 February 2026 (UTC)Reply

That's not exactly what the paragraphs say. The 21 number is in the context of the initial order, while it later says 22 were built for Lufthansa. According to the FAA TCDS for the Boeing 737, a total of 23 737-130s (30 is the customer code for Lufthansa) were built. Of those, the first 21 were assigned sequential manufacturer serial numbers, meaning they were likely part of the same order. The last two appear to have been ordered separately at a later date.
This seems to confirm that the 21 aircraft ordered claim is correct, but we should probably look into 22. It may be that one of the last two was delivered to another airline, but that's just my speculation. - ZLEA TǀC 21:19, 26 February 2026 (UTC)Reply

Article badly needs some cleanup

edit

This article would benefit from some cleanup of text and formatting. I note many places where things are "as of X date" or "expected by X date" where the date is several years ago. The deliveries table has extended off the side of the page, it should be reformatted by decades. There are three notes under the deliveries table, only one applies to that table (the other two pertain to "Varients", either that table should have it's own notes section, or all the notes should be in one section at the very end of the article). There are multiple redundancies where text has been added which partially repeats earlier text.

Hopefully someone has the time and energy to improve this article. ~2026-90776-9 (talk) 16:19, 19 April 2026 (UTC)Reply
