Why sfns?
editWhy does the article use inline shortened footnotes instead of a normal inline citation? If you don't like the clutter, you can use Template:Reflist to make a organized list in the citation and use <ref name=>. An example is Space Launch System. Thecowboygilbert - (talk) ♥
- I agree; also a huge pain when editing in wikitext because of how many citations are manually put at the references section. I might try to fix it in a sandbox before doing anything here.--(Discuss 0nshore's contributions!!!) 13:49, 22 March 2024 (UTC)
- Apologies for the trouble. This is my first time doing in-line citations. I was trying to do them like User:AJona1992, he helped me on one of my previous articles and I was using it as an example. It was the easiest method for me, as it required less typing. It was just easier to put the last name of authors along with year of publication. It also helped when several different sentences used the same source. The problem was I couldn’t link the inline citations to the work cited like Jona did. Thank you all for fixing the citations. - I think I fixed the citations now. There is still a list of references at the bottom that are not cited inline but I kept to be added on by others (including me as I am not done here). (Discuss 0nshore's contributions!!!) 23:41, 22 March 2024 (UTC)
- If you need any assistance using the method/style that I use, let me know, we can do some practice tests to get you acquainted. Best – jona ✉ 17:33, 24 March 2024 (UTC)

Huh, this is an article now. Maybe we should have one on Kane Pixels! There are some glaring issues with this one which need to be fixed before we can proceed:
- For reader and editor convenience, the YouTube video should have spotchecks. It's easier to find moments in the video by opening the transcript (at the bottom of the description) and Ctrl+F'ing relevant terms.
- I recommend you have another cursory search of Google News. There's a lot of content which isn't included on this article, including an article on Parsons from Dazed and an overview from Collider. Is there any information on the break which has lasted over a year?
- Please use less quotes (paraphrase more) and try to keep use of primary sources to a minimum. You can also condense the plot summaries more. Some of these episodes are less than a minute long, after all.
On second thought, I'm going to have to fail this article. Probably half the available sources (including an academic article analyzing the series) aren't used. It's messily organized, and reading the body doesn't make sense chronologically (so it goes from posting the first video straight to reception without discussing any of the subsequent episodes?). Some of the sources that are included are misrepresented: a quote from Parsons is given as a quote from the ABC News journalist, for example. Most of the article is plot summary and is still short. The title should be changed: there's no indication that the series is called Backrooms and the playlist is called "The Backrooms".
This article could probably be a GA in the future, but it needs a huge amount of work.
Wrong dates and missing episodes
editThe table in the article doesn't reflect the official playlist .
The dates are wrong and there are more episodes in the playlist. Laura240406 (talk) 01:28, 31 May 2024 (UTC)
- I've added all missing episodes and reordered them so that it matches the official playlist. Feel free to expand the descriptions as I've only added surface level ones. Laura240406 (talk) 01:47, 31 May 2024 (UTC)
Other web series by Kane Pixels
editShould we create some pages for other series that Parsons worked on during the 20-month hiatus of his Backrooms series, like "The Oldest View"? Chadalvarez2021 (talk) 20:34, 15 February 2025 (UTC)
Missing "I Remember"
editAlthough "I remember" is not listed on the official Backrooms playlist, it is related to the series as the "Prototype" is visible in the video. CharterDaGoob ✦ yer local goober ✦ yap? 15:12, 24 April 2026 (UTC)
- Unless a video is either in the official series playlist or is linked in the description in one of the other series videos, then it shouldn't be included. A video simply having certain elements of the series in it I don't think automatically makes it part of the series; it needs direct, concrete inclusion. — Jamie Eilat (talk) 19:43, 9 May 2026 (UTC)
- "Having certain elements" is a bit of an understatement. The video is indeed part of the series but has been excluded from the playlist for reasons Kane is intentionally keeping unknown. Perhaps it can be mentioned elsewhere in the article? ~2026-28355-06 (talk) 23:52, 10 May 2026 (UTC)
- Has Parsons actually stated anything about "I Remember", or about there being an intentionally-hidden reason for it not otherwise being in the playlist? Because I cannot find anything. (If he has made any statements about "I Remember" in relation to the Backrooms series, then it would be great for you to direct us to it.) If not, then your statement that "[t]he video is indeed part of the series but has been excluded from the playlist for reasons Kane is intentionally keeping unknown" would seem to just be an assumption based on silence (or, in other words, original research). — Jamie Eilat (talk) 00:23, 11 May 2026 (UTC)

Parsons views the movie as a part of the series
editUnsure of how to phrase it in the article, but in interviews[1] [2] Parsons says he views the film as an extension/a part of his backrooms project. Vkoid (talk) 02:36, 4 June 2026 (UTC)
- maybe a franchise page will be needed at some point. There was talk of a network TV series as well as a second film and 9 more webisodes Wahalo (talk) 07:15, 13 June 2026 (UTC)
- Why not just simplify the title as Backrooms (series)? Then we can simply state in the lead that its a horror series consisting of one feature length film and a series of online shorts. Orchastrattor (talk) 20:11, 15 June 2026 (UTC)
- That's another option I suppose. Though I don't think there's much precedent for that kind of mixed media series formatting style/presentation on Wikipedia, especially combining a web series and a film into the same series. I think at that stage it's usually just called a franchise or shared universe, though in-universe chronology can still be established between the projects or installments. In some cases films are included alongside television seasons in the "series overview", e.g. List of Breaking Bad episodes or List of Sex and the City episodes if they're particularly connected to the TV series. But usually it's still considered a franchise as well, and I think it's just listed like that for intuitiveness, since it's not actually saying anywhere that the films are part of the "series" or television series even if they are heavily connected or intended to watch in a particular order. In this case not only is it a web series but it's also more anthological where the film doesn't connect as much with the web series despite apparently existing in the same universe. Maybe someone else can offer an opinion. Wahalo (talk) 02:56, 16 June 2026 (UTC)

- just a hypothetical mock up for a "Series overview" of Backrooms or "List of Backrooms episodes". Wahalo (talk) 04:10, 16 June 2026 (UTC)
- "Distributed by" would make more sense than "network" if it jumps from YT to HBO but other than that yeah that makes sense. I guess it depends on how one thinks of the online series since imo they're closer to actual short films than they are to tv episodes, at least in some ways. The continuity is deliberately obtuse and there's just so much variance in format, style, and length. Orchastrattor (talk) 14:25, 16 June 2026 (UTC)
