Number alignment

edit

@Yerevantsi: how is it an improvement?

The improvement is lining up the numbers so they can be compared across the table. — 𝐆𝐮𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐩𝐢𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐚 (talk) 11:36, 6 May 2021 (UTC)Reply

Yerevantsi. {{srn}} (static row numbers) is much better row numbering than {{rank}}. {{srn}} is integrated into the table, and allows editing of the table via the Visual Editor. Zooming the font size has no effect on row alignment. Browser window width has no effect on row alignment. Rows can have multiple lines without effecting row alignment. So {{rank}} is deprecated. --Timeshifter (talk) 12:47, 6 May 2021 (UTC)Reply
He was actually referring to this edit, Timeshifter. — 𝐆𝐮𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐩𝐢𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐚 (talk) 21:44, 6 May 2021 (UTC)Reply
Oops. I struck out my previous comment.
Yerevantsi. I see now what Guarapiranga did. He right aligned the numbers in the column. This is a common improvement to tables, and it makes it easier to scan down a column.
But this messed up the sorting. The sorting is no longer correct because it is sorting by the years too.
So I support Yerevantsi's version of the table.
A possible solution is to put the years in separate columns. I have done that for tables.

But this messed up the sorting.
Yeah, that was one switcheroo too many. Could've kept the census year to the right, but in a separate column also works. Thanks for doing that, Yerevantsi. So now the numbers are aligned and can be sorted. — 𝐆𝐮𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐩𝐢𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐚 (talk) 10:59, 10 May 2021 (UTC)Reply

Glendale and Chaltyr

edit

Should Glendale and maybe Chaltyr be added to the urban areas list. Glendale has a population of around 190,000 and over 40% (based of my quick reasearch on the Wikipedia page) are Armenian, it is a separate city from LA. Cities like Burbank, Pasadena and unincorporated La-Crescenta Montrose also have major Armenian communities. Chaltyr may be a bit small for the listed cities but it is a predominantly Armenian city near but not apart of Rosotov-on-Don. ~2026-24887-42 (talk) 03:11, 4 May 2026 (UTC)Reply

I would argue against both, because in no meaningful way is Glendale a proper city of its own. It is part of Greater LA, which is already listed. Chaltyr is much smaller, but again, part of the Rostov area. They are listed in List of Armenian ethnic enclaves. ----Երևանցի talk 14:31, 4 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
