According to the sources cited in S. H. Hodivala, Studies in Mughal Numismatics (Calcutta, 1923): 287, the accession of 'Ālamgir II to the throne was reckoned offically from 1 Sha'bān 1167 (which should fall on or aboutCE 24 May 1754). Rumours that Alamgir II did not refer to himself as Jahan Panah (refuge of the world), due to his aggressive stance against the Maratha Confederacy.

he may have spoken "Medieval Sanskrit" as a language of his wartime leadership and military skills.
