Regarding AdHoc's credit on The Wolf Among Us 2

edit

As it is common knowledge by now that AdHoc is no longer involved with the development of The Wolf Among Us 2, should it still be included on their "Games Developed" list? Telltale Games has also removed any mention of AdHoc from the game's promos and posters, and according to an Argentinian news outlet named Press Over, the game is apparently under development under a new Argentinian studio. The Wikipedia article of The Wolf Among Us 2 also no longer explicitly credits AdHoc as the developer on the front panel either.

I recently removed Wolf Among Us 2 from AdHoc's lineup of games, however @Cheezknight had reinstated the title, stating that AdHoc should still be credited, which contradicts the game's article and news sources. I personally don't think the game should still be considered an AdHoc-developed title if development had restarted under a new studio. FazeBlack (talk) 12:31, 25 April 2026 (UTC)Reply

It is stated both on this article and in a note in the infobox of the The Wolf Among Us 2 article that the status of AdHoc's work is currently unknown. It is best to wait for explicit confirmation that AdHoc's work is no longer being used. I was unaware of any apparent involvement of an Argentinian studio, so thanks for pointing that out. It should be obvious AdHoc's work will be heavily reworked in the final version of the game, if it's being considered canon at all. Telltale also no longer credits them as the developers, so I see no reason why Wolf Among Us 2 should be considered an AdHoc-developed game. FazeBlack (talk) 13:24, 25 April 2026 (UTC)Reply
We need a concrete update, from Telltale, in order to definitely remove the credit. AdHoc was contracted to write and direct the game, so they’re in the dark on what’s happening just like us. I understand wanting to remove it, but we can’t just yet. Kaii-El (talk) 14:52, 25 April 2026 (UTC)Reply
Now that TWAU2 has been re-revealed and AdHoc's name isn't credited at all, I think it's finally time to remove the credit. Looks like Telltale is credited as sole developer and is co-publishing the game with PM Studios. It looks to have a very similar story and characters, but that would likely just be writing credit(s), not development credit. What are your thoughts? @Cheezknight @FazeBlack and anyone wishing to join the conversation. Kaii-El (talk) 00:43, 6 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
Telltale CEO interview: https://www.ign.com/articles/telltale-ceo-explains-why-the-wolf-among-us-2-has-taken-so-long-and-what-happened-with-that-split-with-dispatch-maker-ad-hoc - looks like writing may be similar, but developer-wise, AdHoc is not credited. He also mentions AdHoc consisting of 4 people or so when they were working on TWAU2. Kaii-El (talk) 01:25, 6 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
It is a nice surprise to see the game re-revealed! I agree with the removal now that we have some kind of confirmation. Thanks for pinging me. Cheezknight (talk) 03:05, 6 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for removing the credit. Was thinking of doing it myself.
Unrelated, but I find it weird that the Telltale CEO is downplaying AdHoc's contribution to the original version of the game. Four people or not, they did write 800 pages of the original script and was even almost done making cutscenes. According to the interview, it looks like Telltale might have even changed or scrapped AdHoc's story. FazeBlack (talk) 03:37, 6 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
Absolutely agree. You can tell AdHoc put a lot into the project and loved what they had made. Kaii-El (talk) 04:37, 6 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
