Fair use rationale for Image:Logo aar.png
edit
Image:Logo aar.png is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.
Heavy Hammer label?
editSorry, but that "Advertisement" label on the article page appears to be a heavy hammer to fix something that appears to read like a company brochure. Yeah, it needs work and some links, etc. Hopefully, I'll be back to help out.--TGC55 (talk) 17:58, 3 April 2010 (UTC)
Neutral Point of View
editThe paragraph below appears to have an undue level of prominence that is not in keeping with Wikipedia's Neutral Point of View content policy. There is also repetition with the later part of the article. The description of the company's products, services, market position, customers would be more appropriate at that level of prominence in the article. The paragraph below may be appropriate in a later, separate section.
Excerpt from current article: "During the first Trump administration, AAR quadrupled its lobbying expenditures. The company spent large sums at Trump-owned properties with the intent to get Trump to view the company more favorably. From the time Trump took office until October 2020, AAR obtained 10 new federal contracts worth a total of $1.35 billion. In December 2024, AAR paid a $55 million settlement in relation to an investigation by the U.S. Justice Department and SEC over schemes to bribe Nepalese and South African officials." ~2026-30550-2 (talk) 03:47, 15 January 2026 (UTC)
COI edit request: duplicated Trump-era lobbying content
edit![]() | This edit request by an editor with a conflict of interest was declined. The changes suggested removing content that is well-cited or where sources exist. |
COI disclosure: I work for AAR Corp. and am requesting review by an uninvolved editor.
Request regarding duplicated and outdated Trump‑era lobbying content (WP:UNDUE / WP:RECENTISM / WP:SYNTH)
I’d like to request review of two separate paragraphs in the article that repeat the same Trump‑era lobbying narrative using nearly identical wording and the same source. Both passages describe lobbying activity and federal contracts between 2017 and October 2020.
The presence of this material twice gives disproportionate editorial weight to a single, time‑limited period and amplifies it through repetition. This is especially problematic because the content is entirely bounded by the first Trump administration and has not been updated to reflect subsequent years, despite the company’s continued operations and government business after 2020.
In addition, the repeated statement that spending at Trump‑owned properties was done “with the intent to get Trump to view the company more favorably” appears to attribute motive unless that phrasing is explicitly stated by the cited source. If not directly supported by the source, this risks editorial synthesis rather than neutral description.
Given the duplication, the age of the material, and the emphasis created by repeating it in multiple places, I respectfully request that an uninvolved editor consider:
• Removing one of the duplicated paragraphs entirely, and
• Substantially reducing or removing the remaining Trump‑era lobbying content on the grounds that it represents outdated, time‑limited information that currently receives undue weight relative to its long‑term significance in reliable sources, or • If retained at all, condensing it to a single, neutral, factual sentence without inferred intent, so that it does not dominate the article through repetition or emphasis.
Thank you for reviewing. AAR CORP. Editor (talk) 19:53, 16 February 2026 (UTC)
Partly done The proposed changes are removing content that is well-cited or where sources exist. The material on lobbying is well sourced (by several New York Times articles). In particular, the NYT wrote in regard to AAR's expenditures: "All were intended, the lobbyist said, to encourage the president to view the company favorably".
- However, I did remove the duplication from lede (it did not belong there in any case). Fiske (talk) 19:37, 18 March 2026 (UTC)
