Scoring summary section unreadable in dark mode
editI'm not exactly sure how to resolve this in a way consistent with other match description pages, so I'll just leave this note. It's the table with light grey letters on a salmonlavender-ish background. Frank Geerlings (talk) 12:35, 24 October 2025 (UTC)
- @Frank Geerlings thanks for the heads-up. I can't seem to reproduce the issue - when I go on dark mode (I'm on MonoBook, if that makes a difference) I can read the scoring summary table just fine (white text on a dark gray/black background). In any event, if you are still having the problem, is it with the {{Americanfootballbox}} template (top) or the {{AmFootballScoreSummaryStart}}/{{AmFootballScoreSummaryEntry}} etc. templates? PCN02WPS (talk | contribs) 01:45, 27 November 2025 (UTC)
- Not sure. The table is readable, but game time, game weather isn't. Well, it is readable but contrast is very very low: light grey letters on a slightly lighter grey background. This is with the iPhone app in dark mode. Not sure what skin that is. Frank Geerlings (talk) 18:14, 27 November 2025 (UTC)

Right out of the gate, there are no images illustrate this page. At the very least, a picture of Chase Field should be included, although I suspect there are pictures of players out there too.
- Added image of Chase Field configured for the next year's Cheez-It Bowl, and a picture of Cal's QB. PCN02WPS (talk | contribs) 21:57, 22 April 2026 (UTC)
Teams
- We should mention the conference tie-ins to the bowl and how long that arrangement has gone on.
- Added using source from Rate Bowl#Conference tie-ins. PCN02WPS (talk | contribs) 21:57, 22 April 2026 (UTC)
- "three straight wins" against whom? If their performance was good enough to warrant a ranking, should be included.
- Mentioned the two Power Five opponents, chose to leave out FCS Idaho State. PCN02WPS (talk | contribs) 21:57, 22 April 2026 (UTC)
- Clarify somewhere that all rankings are from the AP Poll, mayhaps in note [B].
- Added as recommended. PCN02WPS (talk | contribs) 21:57, 22 April 2026 (UTC)
Game summary
- Why not include positions for defensive players too? Multiple can intercept the ball; just additional helpful information, especially since we identify quarterbacks and placekickers and receivers
- Good point, added those. PCN02WPS (talk | contribs) 21:57, 22 April 2026 (UTC)
- How was it a 15-yard penalty if they were due to start at the 5 but then got called all the way back to Cal's 40?
- Each team's overtime possession begins at the opponents' 25-yard line, regardless of the result of the other team's possession (unless TCU's defense were to have scored). Since the 15-yard penalty was post-possession (i.e. the infraction took place after Johnson made the interception), the 15-yard penalty is enforced from the spot where TCU takes over; since it's overtime, that spot is the Cal 25, so the possession begins at the Cal 40 as a result. I added a little bit to make this clearer. PCN02WPS (talk | contribs) 21:57, 22 April 2026 (UTC)
Statistics
- I'm a sucker for some prose. I think this section could benefit from a summary of these stats— statistical leaders, records/career highs/season highs or whatever you feel worth including. I try to avoid using only tables without clarifying text.
Aftermath and reactions
- Is there a better way to make clearer that the Cheez-It Bowl and Insight.com Bowl are the same thing, just different names? Might not be as obvious to an average reader.
- Added this to a note (what is now note [A]) at the start of the "Teams" section, and duplicated the note after the phrase "Cheez-It Bowl record" just in case. PCN02WPS (talk | contribs) 22:07, 22 April 2026 (UTC)
- Because they are columns, we should say "[AUTHOR NAME] of [PUBLICATION]" said, instead of just the publication.
- Good point, added. PCN02WPS (talk | contribs) 22:07, 22 April 2026 (UTC)
- Yes, the statistics tab is above, but highlight both player's performances. We should show why they got the awards, not just that they got them.
References
Earwig is happy, here's what I got:
- I ran the source verifier tool and found just one fact not supported, that being reference 24. We need an additional source that mentions the 15-yard penalty, as BI does not say that.
- I don't actually believe the open access symbol needs to be there for Newspapers.com, I believe those to only apply to academic journals.
Thanks for your work! I don't believe these fixes will take long at all. Happy editing! Jordano53 04:50, 12 April 2026 (UTC)
- @PCN02WPS: All looks good here. Thanks for the changes. Promoting! Jordano53 14:46, 23 April 2026 (UTC)
