2009 Lone Grove–Ardmore tornado → 2009 Lone Grove tornado – Per Wikipedia:COMMONNAME, as it had nearly all of its impacts in Lone Grove, and is referenced by the NWS and news sources as 'Lone Grove tornado' or 'tornado that struck Lone Grove' Lightbulb Noob (talk) 20:13, 4 January 2026 (UTC) — Relisting. - Support: Lone Grove was the primary place affected by the tornado. Quincy Gordon (talk) 06:41, 5 January 2026 (UTC)
- Oppose: another rolling fork situation where people are valuing what a few sources call it over the actual damage it caused.
- i say this again, it doesn't matter what a source calls it, if a town was affected, keep it in the title ~2025-37075-72 (talk) 23:14, 10 January 2026 (UTC)
- and even then, this isn't even close to a situation like rolling fork
- Ardmore was ALSO affected at EF4 intensity, so you can't argue that the impacts were all in Lone Grove, as the damage says otherwise. ~2025-37075-72 (talk) 23:21, 10 January 2026 (UTC)
- Comment All the fatalites and injuries occured in Lone Grove. Additionally, the tornado only destroyed around 8 houses and the Ardmore Adventist Academy in Ardmore, while in Lone Grove, over 100 houses were damaged or destroyed. Very large difference in impacts here. Lightbulb Noob (talk) 23:52, 10 January 2026 (UTC)
- So it did cause significant damage to Ardmore, and actually destroyed a significant building (The Ardmore Adventist Academy), therefore it should be kept regardless of what a few sources called it. ~2026-22714-4 (talk) 14:36, 11 January 2026 (UTC)
- The Academy was a tiny school with like 25 kids. Significant building is a stretch. Lightbulb Noob (talk) 15:24, 11 January 2026 (UTC)

- Comment: Sources are king on Wikipedia for determining the common name. If you can find other sources using the name Lone Grove - Ardmore tornado or Ardmore tornado in reference to this event, that will hold far more weight. DJ Cane (he/him) (Talk) 21:38, 22 January 2026 (UTC)

- Can anyone notify wiki projects about proposed moves and such? Or only moderators, etc. Lightbulb Noob (talk) 22:13, 19 January 2026 (UTC)
- Support per nom. On Wikipedia the sources tell us what the common name is, not the location of the damage. DJ Cane (he/him) (Talk) 21:52, 23 January 2026 (UTC)
Stop omitting towns from names
editrecently, several pages have been changed to omit certain towns from the names due to Wikipedia editors now privileging the most affected towns over others due to not being included by a few sources, which is a really bad argument which has led to to omission of affected towns from the names of articles.
This bias has gone way too far and has affected several pages now, and actively goes against Wikipedia’s neutral POV, and has no actual good defense to prove this argument right.
people commonly defend this with the “argument” that a few sources also omit towns from names, which is a terrible argument, as omitting towns from a name is blatant proof of bias by privileging 1 town over another, which actively conflicts with Wikipedia’s neutral POV.
Another common defense sometimes is the argument that the town omitted wasn’t significantly affected, or as affected as the town they keep, which is also a terrible argument and also an admission of bias, as it’s admitting that they don’t think the town deserves to be kept in the title due to privileging the other town over the other.
so as a request, I would like the name changed for this, and the other pages that have been affected by this to be reverted to before these changes to better fit the neutral POV of Wikipedia. ~2026-54755-9 (talk) 15:37, 25 January 2026 (UTC)

please read WP:AGF. EF5 20:37, 25 January 2026 (UTC)- i changed it to remove "purposely" from the name ~2026-78886-8 (talk) 15:55, 5 February 2026 (UTC)
