I'll take a look at this one. Harper J. Cole (talk) 15:02, 29 March 2026 (UTC)
Review
editLead
edit- in another example of the "Crucible curse". I'd suggest simply putting 'an example' instead of 'another example', as we haven't been discussing previous examples.
- Amended. BennyOnTheLoose (talk) 19:25, 30 March 2026 (UTC)
Overview
edit- divided into two or more sessions The 's' of 'sessions' currently isn't bluelinked. If you put the s inside the link it should still work.
- Amended. BennyOnTheLoose (talk) 19:25, 30 March 2026 (UTC)
Qualifying
edit- The 1980 champion Cliff Thorburn failed to qualify for the Crucible for the first time since the tournament moved there in 1977. A quick mention of the opponent and score would be consistent with other matches mentioned.
First round
edit- Dean Reynolds led Robert Marshall 5–3 It looks like that match was 4–4 after eight frames. (I'm going by the 2015 edition of the Almanac.)
- amended to match what the source used had - consistent with the Almanac. BennyOnTheLoose (talk) 13:08, 30 March 2026 (UTC)
Second round
edit- Hendry went on to win 13–8 with a break of 116 in the 22nd frame. That would be the 21st frame.
- At 11–9, Foulds was still two frames ahead, but White won the next two frames to level the match, Technically true, but it seems more natural to say that White won three consecutive frames from 11–8 behind.
- a position from which be made a break including the last three reds Looks like there's a typo in there somewhere.
- Amended per the three points above. BennyOnTheLoose (talk) 19:41, 30 March 2026 (UTC)
Quarter-finals
edit- From 8–7, he took the next five frames, which meant he reached the semi-finals for the ninth consecutive year. Again, it's more natural to say that he won six in a row from 7–7.
- Amended. BennyOnTheLoose (talk) 19:44, 30 March 2026 (UTC)
Semi-finals
edit- Might be worth mentioning that Davis–Parrott was a rematch of the 1989 final?
- White led 3–1 and was 3–5 up at the end of the first session. Should be '5–3 up'.
- From a single frame ahead at 11–10, Should be '10–9'.
- Amended per the three points above. BennyOnTheLoose (talk) 19:53, 30 March 2026 (UTC)
Final
edit- Is there anything to say about the second and third sessions?
- Perhaps a brief explanations that the world rankings were based on a rolling two-year basis, to avoid confusion as to how Parrott could drop a place after winning the tournament.
- Added both. BennyOnTheLoose (talk) 22:09, 30 March 2026 (UTC)
Qualifying rounds
edit- The Newbury–Dodd match is given as 10–1, but it looks like it was actually 10–5.
- Corrected. I checked the other 4th and 5th round results and they seem OK. BennyOnTheLoose (talk) 13:02, 30 March 2026 (UTC)
