They are mainly concentrated in the southern parts of the state of Manipur, though there is another 3,500 Simte across the border in Chin State, Myanmar.[1] Most of the Simte are descendants of Ngaihte. Sim means South in the their native language. Simte people mainly settled in Thanlon Sub-Division, Lamka town in Churachandpur, Manipur, Motbung, Leimakhong and parts of the Nagaland areas. A significant number are also settled in neighbouring areas of Mizoram and Assam.[citation needed]
