Schlegel (German pronunciation: [ˈʃleːɡl̩] ) is a village and a former municipality in the district Saale-Orla-Kreis, in Thuringia, Germany. Since 1 January 2019, it is part of the municipality Rosenthal am Rennsteig. Olympian Harry Köcher was born here.[1]

History

Schlegel was first documented on June 24, 1254, and Seibis in 1500.[2][3]

On July 1, 1950, the previously independent municipality of Seibis became a district of Schlegel.[4]
