- 1924 – Alice Babs is born in Kalmar. A singer and actress, she later becomes the first to represent Sweden in the Eurovision Song Contest.
- 1947 – A KLM flight crashes (wreckage pictured) shortly after takeoff from Copenhagen. All 22 people on board are killed, including Prince Gustaf Adolf.
- 1952 – Bandy player Gösta "Snoddas" Nordgren performs the song "Flottarkärlek" on the Sveriges Radio programme Karusellen, to considerable commercial success.
- 2021 – Lars Norén, a playwright of over 100 plays, including Natten är dagens mor, dies in Stockholm aged 76.
