The Minister of Justice (Korean: 법무부장관) of South Korea is the leader and chief executive of the Ministry of Justice. The minister is the chief administrator of South Korea's prosecution service and oversees various judicial functions such as immigration, penal correction, and human rights. On ongoing individual criminal cases, the minister may instruct the Prosecutor General, but may not interfere with lower-ranking prosecutors.[1]

The minister is a member of the State Council. The Minister of Justice is appointed by the president and is confirmed upon a hearing by the National Assembly.
The current Minister of Justice is Jeong Seong-ho.

edit- ↑ Min Bok-ki was re-appointed as justice minister two times following his initial appointment in April 1963 in accordance with the commencing of the Choi Tu-son and Chung Il-kwon cabinets on December 1963 and May 1964, respectively.[7][8] Although he is counted to have served three consecutive terms, Min is nonetheless considered to have served the longest continous term as justice minister.[9]
