Maricel "Marang" Morales-Agoncillo (Tagalog: [maɾiˈsɛl moˈɾales aɡonˈsilo]; born March 5, 1976[2]), is a Filipino actress, beauty queen and politician, who has served as a member of the Angeles City Council since 2025, after winning in the 2025 local elections, securing another term as councilor, after a six years hiatus.[3]

Career
editBeauty Pageant
editMorales rose to fame in the 1990s as a beauty queen and actress. She was crowned Mutya ng Pilipinas in 1995, representing the Philippines in Miss Asia-Pacific, where she placed among the Top 12 Semi-finalist. In 2001, she represents the country again now in the Mrs. World Pageant, earning the first runner-up title.[4][5]

editMorales appeared in various films during the 1990s and early 2000s, including Brat Pack (1994), Virgin Island (1997), Tapatan ng Tapang (1997), Talahib at Rosas 2 (1999), D'Sisters: Nuns of the Above (1999), 100 Tula para kay Elisa (2013), Amnesia Love (2018), and Sunny (2024).
Political Career (Councilor 2007–2016, 2025–present)
editMorales transitioned into politics, serving as a councilor in Angeles City. She was first elected to the city council in 2007 and served for three consecutive terms, completing her tenure in 2016.[6] In 2019 Angeles City local elections she runs as Vice Mayor but lost to Vicky Vega.[7][8]
After six years hiatus from politics, Morales made a political comeback in the 2025 Angeles City local elections.[9] She filed her Certificate of Candidacy for councilor as an Independent in October 2024, signaling her intent to re-enter the political arena.[10] During the May 2025 elections, Morales successfully won a seat as a councilor securing 69,853 of total votes, she assumed office on June 30, 2025.[3]
