Mack, born Max Greenberg, was given the nickname "Killer" by Carole Lombard[1] due to his roles in films as a tough guy. He was a friend and confidant of Frank Sinatra, and even more so of George Raft, described as his "factotum" for 20 years.[2] Likewise, Gray was a close associate, and also a "bodyguard-procurer" of Dean Martin's[2] for close to 35 years.[3], and Gray was often cast in the films of all three of his movie-star friends.
