Leuwigoong railway station

Leuwigoong Station (LO) (also known by Indonesian local as halte Leuwigoong or in English is Leuwigoong railway halt) is a class III railway stop that located in Sindangsari, Leuwigoong, Cibatu, Garut Regency, West Java, Indonesia. The station, which is located at an altitude of +617 m, is included in Operational Area II Bandung. This station only had 1 railway track.

The railway station only serving the Commuter rail, like the Garut Commuter Line for passenger train who origin from Leuwigoong can ride it.

History

At its inception and began operational, Leuwigoong was classified as a "Halte" or "Railway halt" a classification for small stations during the Dutch East Indies era. A map published in 1944 shows a turning lane and the notation "Leuwigoong halt", indicating that Leuwigoong was previously a small station. This is also reinforced by the 1908 map at that time from the Dutch East Indies.

Incident

On 28 December 1939, the two cargo railway coaches were derailed while performing a shunting operation at Leuwigoong. The derailment blocked the straight track, preventing trains from Bandung and from passing. Removing the derailed carriages took at least 54 minutes.
