Hucín (German: Hutzendorf; Hungarian: Gice) is a village and municipality in Revúca District in the Banská Bystrica Region of Slovakia.

Geography

The municipality lies at an altitude of 221 metres (725 ft)[2] and covers an area of 12.55 km2 (4.85 sq mi) (2025).[4]

History

In historical records, the village was first mentioned in 1327 (1327 Gyuche, 1418 Gyche, 1565 Hwczyn, 1566 Huczin Dorf, 1580 Hwsin). It belonged to local feudatories Gizey. Some Germans established here in the 16th century. From 1938 to 1945 it was annexed by Hungary.

The vast majority of the municipality's population consists of the local Roma community. In 2019, they constituted an estimated 81% of the local population.[9]
