Hongxia Wang FTSE is a[From where?] molecular engineer, a solar innovator, a Georgia Sweet ARC Laureate Fellow, and Group Leader. She has received numereous grants, on perovsekite solar cells, quantum dot-sensitised solar cells, and dye-sentisitised solar cells, with over 170 publications.[1] She was nominated as a Fellow of the Australian Academy of Technological Sciences and Engineering in 2025.[2]

editCareer
editWang researches solar cells, with the aim of making the cells more energy efficient at the stage of converting energy. The goal is to maximise the useful life of solar cells, and optimise their cost-effectiveness. She won an ARC fellowship in 2024, with the purpose of using molecular enginnering techniques to improve the durability and lifetime of a metal compound called perovskite. A second aim is to replace gold electrods with lower cost alternatives to gold electrodes, which will have more efficient surface properties. The research will increase the manufacturing capacity of solar cells. As part of the Georgina Sweet fellowship, Wang will focus on women and other people who have been systematically disadvantaged, lifting women and non binary people in STEM.[4]
Her research involves developing sustainable and environmentally friendly processes for building solar cells, and providing clean energy solutions globally.[5]
