This audiovisual work is in the public domain in the United States for the following reasons:

  • This film was published in 1962 without a valid copyright notice, which was a mandatory requirement under the U.S. Copyright Act of 1909. Failure to include a notice at the time of publication placed the work immediately into the public domain.
  • A search of the U.S. Copyright Office's registration and renewal catalogs (for 1962 and the 1989-1990 renewal window) shows no copyright claim was ever filed for this work under its title or by its author (Bell Telephone Laboratories / AT&T). This confirms that no copyright was registered and no renewal was filed, which would have also caused the copyright to expire.
This is a edited video, which means that it has been digitally altered from its original version. Modifications: Removed copyrighted background music using OpenVINO vocal isolation (via Audacity) to isolate the public domain voice-over. Resulting audio was then manually denoised and non-speaking sections were silenced.
