Born in Dundalk,[2] Adegboyega played for the youth academies of Drogheda United and Dundalk, before returning to Drogheda United by signing for their first team in January 2023.[4] He scored his first senior goal in March 2023 in a 1–0 win away to UCD,[5][6] and earned a Man of the Match award in a derby game against former club Dundalk in June 2023.[7]

Adegboyega signed for English club Norwich City in August 2023,[8][9][10] initially playing for the under-21 team,[11] and he moved on loan to Walsall in January 2024.[12][13] Having scored three goals in four appearances to help his side into play-off contention, he was named EFL Young Player of the Month for February 2024.[14]

In August 2024, he moved on loan to Scottish Premiership club Dundee United.[15][16]

In January 2026, after being linked with a transfer to Stevenage,[17] he signed for Rotherham United on an 18-month contract, for an undisclosed fee.[18][19]

Adegboyega made his debut for the Republic of Ireland U21 team in a 2025 UEFA European Under-21 Championship qualification Group A fixture as they drew 1–1 with Norway on 11 October 2024.[20]
