Relationship to subject: Henry W Baird was my grandfather. I am his namesake.
Need for this Entry I notice that on the 4th Armored Division page, nine division commanders are listed, but only six of these nine have Wikipedia pages. My grandfather, the division's first commander, is one of the three who does not. A relative suggested I be the one to create a page for him because my role as unofficial family archivist gives me access to details about his career that should yield a good result.
Note on source: I have submitted a request to the National Personnel Records Center for HWB's military record, and if those records still exist and and are provided to me I will use them as a primary source for his military record, rather than relying so much on his own biographical statement and the records as they are displayed on the generals.dk website. He probably prepared his biographical statement in 1958 for use in introducing him as a speaker, since at that time he was a popular guest at meetings of fraternal organizations in the greater Miami area. I have it as a one-page typed document> Not only does it concisely state details about his military career, but it also aligns with the partial military record shown on the generals.dk website.
Explanatory notes section: I lack the html source code skills necessary to apply the reflist group template correctly, but not from lack of trying.
