Vilas Nathuram Kale is an Indian farmer and agricultural entrepreneur from Ghodegaon in Ambegaon taluka of Pune district, Maharashtra. He is known for cultivating exotic vegetables for hotel and institutional buyers in India.[1][2]
Early life and education
editKale is from Ghodegaon in Ambegaon taluka, Pune district, Maharashtra. According to Lokmat Agro, he completed a Bachelor of Science degree in Pune and later earned a doctorate in organic chemistry from Canada.[2]
Farming career
editAfter returning to India, Kale began farming in Ghodegaon. He developed cultivation of exotic vegetables such as lettuce, broccoli, zucchini, leeks, fennel, rosemary and habanero, supplying produce to hotels and corporate customers.[1][2]
According to NewsClick, Kale started cultivating red and yellow capsicum after observing demand for such vegetables in hotels and urban markets.[1] Lokmat Agro reported that his farm has cultivated around 90 varieties of foreign vegetables used by five-star hotels.[2]
