Vijay Chintakayala (born 24 November 1984) is an Indian politician and Member of Parliament in the Rajya Sabha from Andhra Pradesh. He is a leader of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and serves as the party's State General Secretary.

On 11 June 2026, he was elected unopposed to the Rajya Sabha[1][2] from Andhra Pradesh as a candidate of the Telugu Desam Party under the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) alliance arrangement. He is also the son of Chintakayala Ayyanna Patrudu, who has been elected to the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly multiple times from the Narsipatnam constituency, served as a Member of Parliament in the Lok Sabha representing Anakapalli, held cabinet portfolios in the Andhra Pradesh government, and has been the Speaker of the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly since June 2024.

Early life and education

Chintakayala Vijay was born on 24 November 1984 in Narsipatnam, Andhra Pradesh, into a Backward Class (BC) family. He is the elder son of Chintakayala Ayyanna Patrudu, a senior politician from Andhra Pradesh, and his wife Ch Padmavathi. Vijay completed his Master's degree in Political Management from George Washington University[citation needed], United States[3] and a Master's degree in Political Governance from the MIT School of Government in Pune. He completed his B.Tech in Electronics and Communication Engineering from Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University.

Political Career

Vijay began his political career with the TDP. He participated in the party's organisational and election campaigns, including the 2009, 2014, 2019 and 2024 Andhra Pradesh elections. He was associated with several party outreach programmes, including the Youth for Babu campaign[4] and the Mee Kosam Padayatra[5].

In 2014, Chintakayala was appointed President of Telugu Yuvatha, the youth wing of the Telugu Desam Party. During his tenure, he coordinated youth mobilisation programmes and organisational activities across Andhra Pradesh.

In November 2020, he was appointed State General Secretary of the Telugu Desam Party for the first time. In this role, he was involved in party organisation, cadre coordination and election campaign activities. He also served as a co-convener of iTDP, the party's digital and social media wing. In April 15 2026, he was re-appointed as State General Secretary of TDP[6] for the second time.

Personal Life

In 2015, Vijay Chintakayala married Dr. Suvarna Kumari[7]. The couple have two children, a daughter and a son.
