Verónica Mbang Esono Ayang (born 22 April 2002) is an Equatoguinean taekwondo athlete and former basketball and football player. She won the gold medal in the senior female +73 kg category at the African Taekwondo Championships in 2026.

Basketball and football career

Mbang competed in the Tour Bange 3X3 U23 Basket - Pro A - Bata 2022 with team Ureka Girls.[3] She was also the captain of King Africa.[4]

By 2023, Mbang was one of the goalkeepers of the Huracanes football squad.[2]

Taekwondo career

Mbang competed at the 2023 African Taekwondo Championships.[5]

In 2024, Mbang won the women's event at the 5 de Junio tournament in Malabo representing club Cazadores.[6]

On 11 October 2024, Mbang won the silver medal at the WT President’s Cup - Africa in Malabo.[7]

Mbang participated at the 2025 WT President’s Cup - Africa[8][9] and the 2025 World Taekwondo Championships, where she was eliminated in the early rounds after sustaining an injury.[10][11]

On 30 May 2026, Mbang won the gold medal at the African Taekwondo Championships in the taekwondo senior female +73 kg.[12][13]
