editA television series adaptation of the 1982–1989 graphic novel V for Vendetta, which was published by DC Comics's Vertigo imprint from 1988 to 1989, entered development at Channel 4 in October 2017.[1][2] The DC-based series Pennyworth (2019–2022) was planned to serve as a prequel to V for Vendetta, with its third season featuring characters wearing V's Guy Fawkes mask, but that series did not move forward.[3][2] A new V for Vendetta series was revealed to be in development in November 2025. Pete Jackson was attached to write the series, which was being executive produced by DC Studios co-chairmen and co-CEOs James Gunn and Peter Safran alongside Ben Stephenson of Poison Pen and Leanne Klein of Wall to Wall Media. Warner Bros. Television Studios was also producing the series for HBO.[2]
