editIn 2020, The News Tribune reported that Tibbitts @ Fern Hill was ranked No. 65 on Yelp's list of the Top 100 Places to Eat in the United States.[5] In a separate article, the newspaper profiled Tibbitts and described his role as chef-owner of the restaurant.[2]
The restaurant has also appeared in regional and national food and travel coverage. Food & Wine included Tibbitts @ Fern Hill in its coverage of TripSavvy's global brunch selections, naming it among six brunch destinations.[6] Seattle Magazine featured the restaurant in a regional travel profile concerning the Tacoma area.[7] Outside magazine mentioned the restaurant in a national feature detailing civic life in Tacoma.[4] CNN Travel included Tibbitts @ Fern Hill in its food recommendations for Tacoma as part of its America's Best Towns coverage.[8]
KING 5 broadcast a segment in 2020 focusing on the restaurant's practice of organizing and distributing free meals to local residents.[9] The Washington Hospitality Association also documented these community meal initiatives in a 2019 industry feature.[10]
