The Brigands of Rattlecreek is an upcoming American western thriller film directed by Park Chan-wook from a screenplay by S. Craig Zahler. It stars Matthew McConaughey, Austin Butler, Pedro Pascal, and Tang Wei.
Premise
editA sheriff and a doctor who seek revenge against a group of bandits who use the cover of a torrential thunderstorm to rob and terrorize the occupants of a small town.

editS. Craig Zahler's western thriller screenplay The Brigands of Rattleborge topped the 2006 edition of the Black List and was initially set up at Warner Bros. Pictures.[2] In August 2012, Red Granite Pictures and Mythology Entertainment agreed to fully finance and co-produce the film with Park Chan-wook directing the movie.[3] In March 2019, the film was acquired by Amazon Studios, with Park still set to direct and Matthew McConaughey attached to star with the film being retitled to The Brigands of Rattlecreek.[4]
In April 2026, Park was still set to direct and McConaughey to star with Austin Butler, Pedro Pascal, and Tang Wei signing on to co-star.[5][6] In May 2026, Warner Bros. Clockwork acquired worldwide distribution rights to the film.[1]
Filming
editPrincipal photography is expected to begin in early 2027.[1]
