Sydney Towle is an American social media influencer known for documenting her journey with cholangiocarcinoma, a rare cancer that forms in the bile duct.
Education
editTowle graduated from Dartmouth College in 2022. During her time at Dartmouth, she did an internship on the New Hampshire Supreme Court during the winter term of 2021. She assisted with legal research, case briefs, and attended virtual oral arguments.[1] Additionally, she wrote multiple op-eds with The Dartmouth newspaper.[2]

editIn August 2023, Towle was diagnosed with stage 4 cholangiocarcinoma, a rare cancer that forms in the bile duct.[4] At the time of her diagnosis, she lived in Los Angeles, California and initially received treatment at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. She would later move to New York City and has since then received cancer treatment at the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. She has documented her journey on social media since her diagnosis.[3]
In summer of 2025, Towle received a hepatic pump to deliver high doses of chemotherapy to the liver. However, in March 2026, CT scans showed that her cancer progressed and that she has developed ascites.[5]
Public reaction
editTowle has received attention on social media after announcing her cancer diagnosis. After her posts gained widespread visibility on TikTok, several users including on Reddit expressed skepticism and accused her of fabricating aspects of her condition. Following criticism, her doctor Ghassan Abou-Alfa, an oncologist trained from Yale University, confirmed her diagnosis.[3]
