Stelios Angeloudis (Greek: Στέλιος Αγγελούδης; born 26 November 1959) is a Greek politician and lawyer who serves Mayor of Thessaloniki since 2024.
Biography
editEarly life
editHe was born in the Upper Town of Thessaloniki where he still resides today. He has studied law at the Military School of Corps Officers. He was a legal advisor to ERT3, he was the Special Secretary for Sports of Macedonia-Thrace of the Ministry of Culture and Secretary General for Commerce of the Ministry of Development. He was also president of the Hellenic Handball Federation for ten years. In 2001 he participated as an executive representative in the Hellenic Olympic Committee. He was the founder of both the National Olympic Academy and the Thessaloniki Olympic Museum.
In his tenure in these positions he has created many sports infrastructures in Thessaloniki, most notably Poseidonio and KAPPA which is the only sports and cultural center for people with disabilities in Europe.
He was also a commissioner of the 2004 Athens 2004 Summer Olympics.
