Dr Sridevi Kalidindi CBE is a British consultant psychiatrist specialising in rehabilitation psychiatry. She has held clinical and leadership roles within the National Health Service (NHS) and was appointed Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) in 2019 for services to rehabilitation psychiatry.[1]

Early life and education

Kalidindi studied medicine at Imperial College London. She completed postgraduate training in psychiatry at King’s College London and the University of London. She later undertook academic and clinical training at the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neuroscience, King’s College London, where she completed a PhD in psychiatry while serving as a Chadburn Clinical Lecturer.[2]

Career

Kalidindi is a Consultant Rehabilitation Psychiatrist at South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust and has served as an Associate Medical Director. She serves as the National Clinical Lead for Mental Health Rehabilitation under the Getting It Right First Time (GIRFT) programme, a national NHS England initiative aimed at improving mental health services.[3]

Kalidindi has held leadership roles in professional organisations, including serving as Chair of Trustees of the Association of Mental Health Providers, and has contributed to initiatives aimed at workforce development and mental health service improvement in England.[4]

In 2017, Kalidindi founded Klip Global, an organisation providing wellbeing and professional development programmes for staff in healthcare and other professional sectors.[5]

Research and publications

Kalidindi has published research in peer-reviewed journals on schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and rehabilitation psychiatry.[6][7] She has been cited in national media, including BBC News, on topics related to mental health services and patient care.[8] She has contributed to NHS guidance and reports related to mental health rehabilitation.[9]
