Comment: See Sierra AI MightyRanger (talk) 23:26, 20 February 2026 (UTC)
Sierra is an artificial intelligence startup founded by Bret Taylor and Clay Bavor.[1] The AI platform was made to create, deploy, and manage autonomous AI agents for enterprise customer service.[2]
History
editSierra was founded in San Francisco in February 2023 by computer programmer and entrepreneur Bret Taylor with former Google vice president Clay Bavor.[3] The company was valued at $1 billion in January 2024 and as of September 2025 became one of few AI companies to have a $10 billion valuation.[4][5] In March 2025, former Netflix communication chief Rachel Whetstone joined Sierra.[6]
Product
editThe platform Sierra provides is a conversational AI that's expected to be better than just a regular chatbot. Taylor says Sierra is making its agents more “empathetic and conversational.” Clients can customize the AI to their liking. Clothing company Chubbies had its Sierra AI be an agent that sounds young and gave it a name. “We really think that your conversational AI agent should be not only transactional, but a brand ambassador,” Taylor said. “It’s actually something that is a statement of your values. So do you want to be sarcastic? Do you want to use emoji? Do you want it to sound like text messaging, or do you want it to sound like a lawyer?” Sierra uses multiple agents that check each other to maximize accuracy.[7]
