Draft:Sienna Templeman

  • Comment: Articles about researchers, whether at a university or working for NASA, require having made a significant individual contribution to the field. StarryGrandma (talk) 19:06, 16 May 2026 (UTC)

Sienna Templeman

edit

Sienna Templeman is an American climate scientist whose work focuses on climate adaptation and resilience.[1] She serves on the Planning Committee for the National Adaptation Forum and was formerly a researcher at the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center and NASA Headquarters.[2]

Education and early career

edit

Templeman earned an undergraduate degree in environmental science and political science from the University of Idaho, then later received a master's degree in applied climate science from the Climate & Society Program at Columbia University.[3]

Following that, she joined the NASA Ocean Biology and Biogeochemistry (OBB) Program as part of the Plankton, Aerosol, Cloud, ocean Ecosystem (PACE) satellite mission.[1] Templeman also participated in the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC) DEVELOP program as part of the Argentina Agriculture Team for crop monitoring and forecasting.[4]

Research

edit

Templeman has contributed to research through the Global Adaptation Mapping Initiative (GAMI), an international collaboration examining evidence on human adaptation to climate change in which around 50,000 articles were screened, identifying eight major priorities for global adaptation research.[5][6][7] Templeman has published several climate adaptation assessments related to equity, extreme heat, and public health through collaborations associated with the Global Adaptation Mapping Initiative, including Effects of climate change on health in the United Kingdom.[8][9][10][11]
