Sergei Mosunov is a Russian technology entrepreneur and investor. In 2025, he acquired the luxury jewellery brand Fabergé through investment company SMG Capital LLC.[1][2]
Business ventures
editIn 2005, Mosunov founded R’AIN Group in Nizhny Novgorod, an optics and laser technology company specialising in zinc compound crystals used in infrared optics and defence-related applications.[1][3] He sold his remaining stake in the business in 2014.[1]
He became a partner at venture capital firm The Garage Syndicate, which is associated with investments in fintechs that include Klarna and Revolut.[1]
Acquisition of Fabergé UK Limited
editIn August 2025, Mosunov acquired Fabergé UK Limited from mining company Gemfields for approximately US$50 million.[1][4]
Following the acquisition, Mosunov stated that his plans include investing between US$50 million and US$100 million to revitalise the brand and reposition it within the global luxury market.[1]
Public life
editMosunov was involved in civic initiatives in Nizhny Novgorod, including organising a public letter concerning environmental conditions in the city.[5]
