Renewable Energy
By-Vihaan Somani
Renewable energy is something that is said to be good for the environment, but there are some disadvantages that almost no one talks about, so in this writing, you will learn about the disadvantages of renewable energy.
What is renewable energy?
Renewable energy is energy that doesn’t have a limited amount of supply, e.g., solar energy, hydropower, etc. These sources have a good impact on the environment, and they are much better than non-renewable energy sources, as they are unlimited and help the environment.
The advantages of renewable energy.
The advantages of renewable energy are their impact on the environment, as they have an unlimited amount of supply, making them a key energy source. They have already been put into action, as there are solar panels that use the energy that comes from the sun and use that as electricity, and windmills that convert mechanical energy (a mix of potential and kinetic energy) into electricity.
The disadvantages of renewable energy.
Now you might be wondering that renewable energy sources are good in diverse ways, like the environment, or the unlimited use, but there are some disadvantages, and those disadvantages are the things that are stopping us from using renewable energy sources and making us use fossil fuels. One of the disadvantages is the expense, as they need a lot of research and development that is needed for these technologies, infrastructure costs, storage, and economic scales. Another disadvantage is the electricity capacity of these technologies; renewable energy has a low capacity compared to normal methods like burning fossil fuels. Also, renewable energy can be affected a lot by the weather, as some days the sun is blocked, but other days it’s raining. Those are the disadvantages of renewable energy.
