Draft:Quadrillionaire

A quadrillionaire (US: /kwɑːdrɪljəˈnɛər/) is the theoretical concept of an individual who has a net worth of at least one quadrillion units of a given currency (usually referring to US dollars).[1]

Elon Musk became the world's first USD trillionaire in 2026. Despite this, he is currently quite far from being a quadrillionaire as of 2026.

As of 2026, the closest individual to this USD milestone is space entrepreneur Elon Musk, with a net worth slightly lower than $1 trillion.[2][3] There are currently no real quadrillionaires as of 2026. Even though Musk's net worth is nearly $1 trillion as of 2026, he would need to have 1000 times more wealth to be a quadrillionaire.

In 2026, Owen Lamont of Acadian Asset Management predicted there would be at least one USD quadrillionaire by 2130.[4]

Former "quadrillionaires"

edit

In 2013, Chris Reynolds (not to be confused with Chris Reynolds, a former football player, and not to be confused with Chris Reynolds, a Welsh comic book author) had unintentionally obtained a balance of exactly $92,233,720,368,547,800 (or 263 × 10) in his PayPal account due to a technical glitch. This lasted for around 2 minutes before it was reverted back to normal, and it also temporarily made him a "quadrillionaire".[5][6][7]

Other currencies

edit

Many people have been labeled quadrillionaires in other currencies, although this is almost exclusively due to hyperinflation.[8]
