Padmalochan Doley (born 1977) is an Indian politician from Assam. He is a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party, and was formerly a member of the Indian National Congress. He was the general secretary of the Takam Mising Porin Kebang from 2014 to 2019.[1][2] Doley was a general secretary of the Assam Pradesh Congress Committee from 2023 to 2024.[3][4][5]
Early life
editPadmalochan Doley was born in 1977. He is a resident of Lakhimpur district, Assam. He graduated from Pragjyotish College, Guwahati, in 2003.[6]
Political careeer
editFrom 2014 to 2019, Doley was the president of the Takam Mising Porin Kebang (TMPK), a "frontline Mising students organisation".[1][2][7] He joined the Indian National Congress before the 2021 Assam Legislative Assembly election, and was named as the candidate for Dhakuakhana Assembly constituency.[7][8] In the legislative assembly election, Doley placed second in Dhakuakhana behind Bharatiya Janata Party candidate, Naba Kumar Doley.[4] In 2023, Doley was appointed as a general secretary of the Assam Pradesh Congress Committee.[3] He resigned from the Congress to join the Bharatiya Janata Party in 2024.[5][6]
